Whatever you do, never rise to a crescendo

Oh but this is a beautiful piece on commonly misused words. It's just cranky enough to be good to read, but not so cranky that you feel stupid for mangling the English language (not too often, one hopes). My favourite:

Crescendo Confused with “climax”. It indicates a passage of music to be played with increasing volume. Figuratively, it means “to rise to a climax”. Thus the cliche “Rise to a crescendo” is nonsense.
