Weekly reading and watching list, August 22, 2019

Here is a list of articles I found interesting this week.

From my weekly Netflix file: I’ve been on a bit of a Nic Cage kick lately. He’s been in so many movies (he’s hoping to reach 100, I have lots to look forward to), and some of them are far from good, but who cares, I’m a fan I’d watch him watch paint dry. This week I rewatched Next and saw 211 for the first time. Not brilliant, that last one. But endearing. Also enjoyed November Man with Pierce Brosnan, who seems to be getting more handsome with age. Also on a Mark Wahlberg kick, with the inane but hilarious 2 Guns (with Denzel, another fav) and Patriots Day about the Boston marathon bombing. Finally I watched Criminal (brilliant performance by Kevin Costner, Dances with Wolves totally forgiven now) and The Yellow Birds, which was more disturbing than anything. If you have a fun suggestion for me, let me know!
