This is a long but beautiful story of idiocy, crime, forgiveness, love and hope.
For a long time my position on law enforcement generally was a tough, lock-em-up kind of thing. Lately I've begun to question that, especially after reading a lot this summer about mercy, love, forgiveness and all the things in between (this, especially).
Anyway, at the moment I'm wobbly and questioning on this issue. But I know this: When I screw up I want people to treat me kindly. I'm not bad, but I mess up sometimes. And also because hugs cure more than harsh punishment sometimes.
