Message in a washed up stone

Message in a washed up stone

Love this story of a local man down at Westboro beach who found an engraved stone, mostly likely taken by flood waters. Instead of ignoring it, he picked it up. It was very heavy, but he picked it up nonetheless. And seeing the engraving on it, concluded that it might mean something important to someone, somewhere upstream.

So he contacted a news organization to let them know. He wanted them to spread the word, to get their help solving this mystery. He left his phone number with them, hoping that someone might recognize the stone and get in touch.

I like this story because it’s so simple. It feels small; this man stands to gain nothing from his act of kindness. But to those whose stone might mean a lot, it would make a world of difference to get it back.
