I'm a student going to UCLA as an engineer and I read your article on gaming. I don't know why you bash video games so much... do you not have anything better to do with your free time? Are you one of those fat chicks who tries to act more sophisticated than others so that she doesn't feel like a total loser? Video games are a form of entertainment just like television, books, sodoku, etc. Because video games are interactive they offer something that many other forms of entertainment don't have and so are getting more popular. You can bitch all you want but I would much rather play video games when I have some time to kill than whine on the internet about stupid shit that doesn't affect me in any way like you do. Why don't you write some uninformed article about the internet too? "Internet Users need to get a life!" -oh wait that's you.

What a pleasure not having to read your hateful BS about Quebec in the Citizen any more. There is nothing like an ex-Quebecer who denied her roots to bash on Quebec. Maybe that's why you can't get pregnant. What comes around goes around. Your hatred of Quebec has probably programmed your brains not to reproduce yourself. Have a nice life en anglais.

This.
In the beginning, games were fun, but it was a different type of fun. It was like pinball: a test of skill and reflexes and luck, but nothing more.

Compare that to today's games, which are more comparable to movies than to pinball machines. You have a protagonist, a plot (with a twist or two), and character development. Game producers take into account things like shot framing and lighting. You have full orchestral soundtracks and professional voice acting. Sure, the tests of skill and reflexes are still there, but they're not the driving force behind games that they used to be.

So the author spent some time playing Mario. Good for her. But there's a world of difference between "The princess is in another castle," and "The princess has a dark and tortured past, which we're going to explore in detail from several points of view against lush, cinematographic backdrops and haunting, atmospheric music."

Your article (http://img385.imageshack.us/img385/1576/1211646535711xx4bj7.jpg) assumes that gamers play games to escape reality.

This is not the case, people play games just for fun, with their friends, or with people they don't know online.

Gaming isn't a lifestyle, it's just a pass time. Most people agree that it is crazy to queue for hours outside bestbuy for a console.

The games industry has surpassed the movie industry.

You may be wondering how I came to posting this comment: I saw your article on another news site (www.reddit.com) along with a link to this blog, seeing no other way to contact you I am posting here (however feel free to email me, I am happy to discuss this further). The reason why I am posting is simply because your article was offensive, I thought it better to correct you than leave you thinking that a HUGE proportion of people are "pathetic".

Thanks
